My Commitment to Lifestyle

Its April already and its about time I commit.  I am very aware that my commitment ‘issues’ have long become a bad habit and so what better way to break that habit.. than to commit.

I have now made 2 very big commitments.

  1. Study.

Yes, the books are on their way and should arrive any day now. I have been procrastinating over this for years and finally I have bit the bullet and will soon embark on the completion of my Diploma of Kinesiology.

  1. Training.

I have signed up and now embarked on an 11 week half-marathon program with a truly inspirational running coach and marathon winner, Pat Carroll. It is a tough program and the best thing (for this commitment and discipline phobe) is I am accountable to him. We’ve set the goals and now it’s time to put the hard yards in. (Can’t wait to run, run, run!)

Time to schedule, prioritise, and knuckle down. Don’t worry though, I will still make plenty of time to enjoy the other things in life I love. Commitment doesn’t have to mean sacrificing your soul.

What’s next?

Rob and I are off on holidays (again – woo hoo!) to Port Macquarie for 10 days (although Rob will probably need a holiday afterwards to recover). He is competing in his very first Ironman on Sunday 1st May where he will spend all day (yes, 12-14hrs) exercising. Is he mad?? Nuts?? Probably. Committed?? Definitely!

I will certainly be inspired and look forward to watching him every step of the way to achieve the pinnacle of Triathlon.

For me, I await the arrival of my books and will enjoy a nice rest day (in accordance with my program), as tomorrow is hills and if the weather continues, it may be a wet one (commitment includes running in the rain).

So now you are up-to-date with the life and times of Carmen Low, Lifestyle Specialist and ex-commitment phobe!

My question to you is - what will you commit to?
